weekend refuge

This beautiful home is a true example of indoor/outdoor living.

Co-designed by Rick Taylor of Elder Creek and Kelly Cowan of Kelly Cowan Designs, this home opens up to seamlessly blend the indoor and the out. From the custom angles on the slotted arbor, the boulder placement, sculptural wall, to the fire pit, custom features are gracefully integrated throughout.

Keeping the site beautiful, clean, functional, and low maintenance was a priority. Time for reflection and time with family is a priority here.

Given that the home is perched on a knoll, the clean lines act as a frame to both create a sense of containment and to easily guide the eye to the beauty beyond. The pool acts as a centerpiece of activity and provides a beautiful element to the lighting after dark.  The lawn and bocce court offer a visually clean space to play for both adults and grandchildren alike. The custom fire pit is a true joy to safely gather around under the cool evenings and star-filled nights.

The design of the firepit is a custom creation by Kelly. The ingenious pattern you see is that of the tectonic plates. A nod to the passion and profession of the scientists who call this home.
